This month is packing up.
Another month have come and gone; Some fast, some slow. This month might have felt like a sprint, to others, it might have dragged and bruised you in more ways than you can count. Either way, you made it! And that alone is worth pausing to acknowledge.
You are here
But before you go into the new month, I want to offer you something more than a “Happy New Month” message, this isn’t going to be just another motivational quote, or a cute caption to use on your story.
This is a sacred pause
It’s a moment to reflect, to reset, and to realign with not just your goals, but with God also.
Oftentimes, we jump from month to month carrying pressure, guilt, anxiety, and noise. We focus so much on what didn’t happen that we forget what did, or we get fixate on what’s next that we never stop to ask, “Lord, what are you trying to teach me, right here, right now?”
So, before you step into the new month, let’s breathe and do this together.
1. Reflect: What Did This Month Reveal?
This month may not have gone the way you planned. Maybe your to-do list is still long, or your faith was shaken. You might have lost something, or someone. Maybe the doors of opportunity you keep praying for just keeps getting closed.
But here’s a powerful truth: Even in months that feel empty, God is still doing something.
Ask yourself:
- What did I learn about myself this month?
- What moment stretched me, and how did I respond?
- Where did I see God show up; even in small, quiet ways?
Sometimes, our breakthroughs don’t look like fire from heaven, sometimes, they look like these;
- Choosing to pray when you’re discouraged
- Smiling when you’re hurting
- Waking up and showing up even when you feel like quitting
Those count too! You might not have hot all your goals, but you grew, you showed resilience, you kept going. Sometimes, that’s the real win
2. Release: What Do You Need to Let Go Off?
If you’re being honest, what are you still carrying that God never asked you to?
That disappointment? That fear? That habit? That expectation?
One of the most powerful things you can do before a new month is to release the weight of the old one. Not everything can, or should go with you into the New Month.
Let go off:
- The shame from what you didn’t finish
- The bitterness from who didn’t show up
- The pressure to be everywhere, do everything, or please everyone
- The fear that whispers “What if next month is just like this month?”
You need to understand that God doesn’t move on a monthly calendar, but he does gives us new mercies every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). So, don’t let yesterday’s failures define your faith for tomorrow.
3. Realign: What is God Asking of You?
For you, this month may have been a month filled with noise, but the coming one doesn’t have to be
Before the month begins, take a moment to realign with God. Not just with your vision board or business plan, or what have you, but with His heart.
Ask Him:
- What do you want me to focus on this month?
- What habit do I need to surrender or start?
- What assignment are you asking me to say YES to?
- Who are You calling me to serve, encourage or forgive?
Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is to slow down and listen.
God is not just after your hustle, He’s also after your heart, and He wants to walk through the coming month with you, not just watching you from a distance.
4. Reset: What Can You Do Differently?
Next month is a fresh page, but don’t just carry your old patterns into it.
Is there a habit that has drained you in the previous month? Or a mindset that limited you? Or just a routine you’ve been engaging in that has made you spiritually dry?
This is your chance to reset.
It doesn’t even have to be dramatic, time consuming, or perfect. You can commit to waking up 30 minutes before your usual time so that you can observe your quiet time.
Don’t aim for aesthetic, Aim for authenticity.
Choose to move into the new month with intentionality.
Everything you do should be not out of pressure, but from a place of purpose.
5. Rejoice: What Are You Grateful For?
Gratitude shifts everything!
As this month is ending, take a stock of what went right. It could be any of these:
- I had a roof over my head
- I laughed a few times, even when I didn’t feel like it
- I prayed, even when it was messy
- I’m still standing
Always ensure you celebrate the quiet victories and rejoice in the ordinary graces.
God is still good, even when life is not easy, and He’s definitely not finished with you yet.
Before going into the new month, you don’t have to have it all figured out, you just need to be open.
Open to being led, to being healed, to doing things differently, to trusting again.
God is already in your new month.
Say to yourself, “This New Month, I’m coming, and this time, I’m coming with God.”
